Buxton Hollis Historical Society Library

 

Mission:  To preserve and provide information pertinent to the history of Buxton and Hollis. We are a non lending, research library open to the public April through October. Other access can be made by request if a volunteer is available.

 

Open seasonally April - October

Hours: Thursday 4:00 pm — 8:00 pm
Saturday 9:00 am — 12:00 noon
(except holiday weekends)


 

Focus:

 

Resource books:  vital statistics of both towns, family genealogies, cemetery books, obituary collection, historic house survey , local churches and more.

 

Photo Collection: includes individual photos, scrapbooks, and groups

Scrapbook collection includes donation from families of George E. Jack,

Ronelda Berry, Margarete Waterman and others. We have an oversize newspaper book.

 

Town Resources: town reports, school yearbooks, specific histories, town roadside surveys of buildings over 50 years old. 1905 town registers with families and occupations, 1860 census information indexed for both towns.

 

Buxton: buildings on the National Historic Register, Pleasant Point Park information,  and more

 

Hollis: Dana Smith’s school book collection, Kate Douglas Wiggin collection
